Welcome to rural Calvados, beautiful and peaceful, it's a great place to relax and unwind.

Normandy has so much to offer, such as beautiful countryside, an abundance of pretty fishing towns and miles of sandy beaches. A rich gastronomic area, renowned for the Camembert and Pont l’Eveque cheeses, cider and Calvados liqueur.

The pretty market town of Vire is a 5 minute drive away where you will find supermarkets, boulangerie, patisserie, bars and restaurants, you will also find a very well maintained municipal golf course, the river and the stunning Lac Dathee.

The D day landing beaches and gorgeous coastal resorts such as Granville, Houlgate and Carrolles - which has lovely rock pools are all about one hour’s drive away. 

The Bayeux Tapestry, Mont Saint Michel and the British War Cemetery are also within an hour’s drive.

If you want to explore beautiful scenery then the area of Suisse Normande and Bagnoles de Lorne are also within an hour’s drive.

The stunning Mont Cerissy Belle Etoille is around 30 minutes away and is not only great fun for children but beautiful and historical too - set in the grounds of an old castle there are wooded walks, view points, a playground and mini golf! 

You can have lunch on the river in Pont D'Ouilly 35 minutes away and even hire a kayak down the river.

In Granville you will find a beautiful sandy beach (with life guards) which is ideal for families, or you can go for a swim even at low tide in the retention pool. The sandy beaches are pristine and there are many delicious seafood restaurants on the Port. After lunch you can take a stroll along the Plat Gousset which overlooks the beach then walk up the stairs to the Christian Dior garden, from here the view of the Chausey Islands is breathtaking. You can also take a ferry across to the Channel Islands.  

Bagnoles-de-l’Orne. Set around a beautiful lake there is a grand casino, water sports, archery, discovery trails, cycling and hiking available along with restaurants and cafes.

La Ferriere - Harang is a stunning viaduct with breath taking veiws and extreme sports (bungee jumping & rail luge), cycling, BBQ facilities and picnic areas.

Carolles-Plage. A beautiful long sandy beach perfect for children with life guards and rock pools, lovely cafes and picnic areas.

Aquavire. Swimming pools with family pool, water slides and jets, great for a rainy day and very well priced.

In Mortain the river runs through the rocky gorges down to the woodland basin of the Seune River, creating spectacular waterfalls. The mightiest La Grande Cascade is the largest waterfall in the North and West of France.

Lake Pont L’Eveque is a leisure base in the heart of the Pays d'Auge with activities and sensations for everyone including a giant zip line, canoe river descent, jet ski, mini-golf and pedal boat rides. 

The area is great for walking or cycling with many marked trails. Normandy's Greenway Cycle Route which stretches from Cherbourg to Mont Saint Michel (143 miles) is just 5 minutes away from the cottages

In the heart of Normandy, between Pont d'Ouilly and Clécy in the south of Calvados is the Orne. The Orne offers canoeing - 13 km of wild nature, with incredible landscapes, including the Viaduct of Clécy with its majestic arches which are more than 60 meters high. If you hire a canoe-kayak you will see the old water mills, a spinning mill, and the various animals that share this beautiful protected area. 

Raptor Park offers a day of fun and relaxation for families, it is one of the largest indoor amusement parks in Europe. Activities include a laser game, tree climbing, inflatable games, trampoline and a dinosaur exhibition - more than sixty species of dinosaurs are on display - including a life-size brachiosaurus. You can also have a photo taken, sat on the back of some friendly dinosaurs.
